‘Bridging the Years’ – New book on Knockainey now available!

Bridging the Years, Country Life in Knockainey in Days Gone By. This delightful book brings together a collection of interviews and photographs from 15 people who grew up around Knockainey during the mid-20th Century. The book recalls a time when people cycled to funerals in Cork, killed pigs and made puddings at home, and gathers together memories of haymaking, going to the creamery and days in school. It describes a time before electricity and domestic water supplies, when people had relatively little but were relatively happy. The book is richly illustrated with photographs, old and new, and will be much sought after by people living at home in Knockainey and far away.

A limited edition hardback of Bridging the Years is now available for a special pre-order price of €20. Paperbacks will also be available at €10 each. To pre-order a book, please contact Eliza Lloyd on (086) 3412828, Pat Moloney on (087) 2786896 or any Knockainey Historical & Conservation Society committee member. Please note that the hardbacks will not be available in the shops and will be launched with the paperback at St. John’s Church on Thursday, 28 June. More details to follow……
